DirectX
A set of predefined code, called an Application Programming Interface, written by Microsoft. Programmers can use it to create graphic images or other multimedia effects in their applications. It is divided into five distinct parts:
- DirectDraw manages two-dimensional images
- Direct3D manages three-dimensional images
- DirectSound coordinates sound with images
- DirectPlay speeds game play
- DirectInput manages input devices such as a joystic
